Jamhuri Day 2026 in Thunder Bay: tell us you're coming

By Wakenyatbay · October 20, 2026

This year Jamhuri Day falls on a Saturday, December 12, and we’re planning a family celebration for wakenya in Thunder Bay: Kenyan food, music, activities for the children, and the national anthem together.

Tell us you’re coming

The venue, time and ticket price will be announced once they’re confirmed. To plan the right amount of food and space, we need to know roughly how many of you will come.

It takes a minute: tell us if you’re coming, how many adults and children, and whether you can help. It isn’t a ticket, and nothing you send is published.

We need helpers

A celebration like this takes a village. If you can help with any of these, tick it on the form:

  • finding a venue
  • cooking (food will be prepared in an inspected kitchen, as the health unit requires for public events)
  • music or a DJ
  • children’s activities
  • setting up or cleaning up
  • MC or the programme
  • photos
  • sponsors or donations (see how to become a Jamhuri Day sponsor)

What Jamhuri Day marks

Jamhuri means republic. On December 12, Kenyans mark full independence in 1963 and becoming a republic in 1964. Read more on our Jamhuri Day page and see all Kenyan public holidays.

Share this post in your WhatsApp groups. The more of us who say we’re coming, the better the celebration we can plan. Tuonane!
